What to expect your first session-

A thorough intake will be done with each new client. This intake will include going over medical history, previous injuries, previous surgeries, all medical conditions, and the goal for your treatment session. Although a lot can be accomplished in one session, most ailments will need a select number of sessions to achieve long term results. If you are just a client seeking relaxation based sessions with no goal other than that, you can expect the intake session to only last 5-10 minutes. Clients whom are coming for results on current issues, you can expect the intake to last 15-20 minutes. After your first session, your therapist will go over what they found and how soon/frequently they suggest you be seen to achieve long lasting results.

How should I prepare for my massage session?

Even if you are only being seen for a relaxation massage it is VERY important to be well hydrated. Preferably within the days leading up to your massage but it is especially important afterwards. The reason hydration is important is for a number of reasons. 1- It makes your therapist able to accomplish more during your session. Hydrated muscle tissue is much more pliable and easier to work with than dehydrated muscle tissue. 2- Well hydrated bodies flush out toxins and metabolic waste that is moved through your system during your session. This means a reduced chance of feeling “Massage Flu” symptoms which can include fatigue, headache, nausea and soreness which can occur if you have a low immune system and a dehydrated body. 3-Muscle Recovery! Massage can be dehydrating due to the “pushing out” of fluids in your tissues. Drinking plenty of water helps replenish your fluids and electrolytes lost during the session which is crucial for your bodies recovery and preventing soreness. 4- Being hydrated is just all around good for you! Did you know your brain is 75% water? Being dehydrate can result in lower reaction time and cognitive function. View your body as a plant and water it!
